Write to Write — Word, Word, Go!
Today I start my day by writing for 25 minutes.
— — I start, and the mind is already overthinking, self-editing, and anxious to say something Profound and Meaningful.
Or my mind would like to shape this piece into blog-post fodder (self-editor just looked up the word ‘fodder’ to see if I was using it correctly. I’m not sure but fuck it, it’s a fun word to use, and fun is good).
This isn’t an article with one point, or a bullet-point list with how-to’s and sage advice. I am not a Successful Writer who earns thousands a month — — or not yet (!). Nor will this article be the thing to change that.
I am simply writing this to write it.
The overthinking, perfectionist, anxious mind has had its reign. It’s told me that I’m not good enough, that I need to do things the ‘right’ way, and that I can’t, I can’t.
But I Can.
Look. Here’s a word. Another. Word. Word. Word.
There is a time and space for the self-editor to speak. I am thankful for my mind and its ability to think and function in all the ways it does.
Now it is my responsibility to bring those thoughts into action, and this begins with small actions. One word, and then another.
Please, may it be that I write profound truths and timeless wisdom. One day, may I create works of brilliance and insight.
But let me not fall prey to the trap of perfectionist-standards and unrealistic expectations, two things which keep me in standstill. I want to grow. I want to move forward, and keeping to a structure and accountability helps me do so.
Starting now, I commit to writing for 25 minutes a day for 25 days.
If you’d like to join me, we can cheer each other on! We can cheer each other on regardless. We can also be totally oblivious to each other, because this is the internet, and man there’s a lot going on here.
See you tomorrow, and cheers ~
