Coaxing my cranky self to get words on the page.
stop stress-eating and internet-distracting for a moment, and be here.
Yes, yes, exactly as you are. Keep breathing. There you go. Breathe in, breathe out. Look at the screen in front of you. Feel the desire to get up and leave, and make the decision to stay.
It’s hard to write, isn’t it?
It’s hard to write well, and there is so much you want to put into words. You drive yourself crazy with it, or maybe you were always a little crazy, meshugas, loco.
Now the mind is chattering away, with many voices speaking over one another.
Listen to the voices, listen to the listening, and let your fingers type away on the keyboard. Listen to the body, sense the tension, indigestion, and ways the body demands attention.
It’s hard to write, it’s hard to be a body, a lot of things in life are hard. That’s just how it is. It wasn’t meant to another way. You aren’t a fuck-up failure, you aren’t ‘wrong’ or ‘unable.’ You are a person who is trying their best. And all you need to do now, right now, is breathe.
Are you ready? You don’t need to be ready. All we are going for is words. Word. Word. Word. You showed up. Good for you.
Time is up, that’s it for today. Do it again tomorrow. And the next day. And again…
